Exploring Mesenteric Panniculitis: Etiology, Clinical Features, and Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment

Mesenteric panniculitis is a rare disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the adipose tissue mesentery. Also known as mesenteric lipogranulomatosis or retraction syndrome, this condition presents with formation inflammatory nodules in mesentery, composed tissue, cells, fibrosis and vascular changes. Although exact etiology not yet fully understood, relationship abnormal immune responses, genetic predisposition, autoimmune diseases previous infections has been suggested. In addition, possible association systemic such rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's lupus erythematosus raised. Patients may present variety symptoms, including diffuse abdominal pain, tenderness affected area, weight loss, nausea, vomiting changes bowel patterns. more severe cases, compress adjacent structures, which can lead to complications intestinal obstruction ischemia.
